A Complete Green Screen & AI Workflow

Taking a project from an empty green screen to a fully realized digital environment requires a tightly controlled pipeline and absolute attention to detail. For this project, I spearheaded the entire lifecycle—from the initial conceptualization and edit design through to the final post-production composite.

Concept & Production The process began with a highly intentional edit design, mapping out exactly how the live-action subjects would interact with a world that didn't yet exist. During production, the primary challenge was executing the green screen shoot with flawless practical lighting. Every shadow, rim light, and exposure level had to perfectly anticipate the eventual digital background to ensure the talent wouldn't feel entirely disconnected from the final frame.

Meticulous Extraction & AI Generation In post-production, I took a rigorous approach to the extraction process. I dialed in the keying, handled complex edge refinement, and applied heavy spill suppression to guarantee a perfectly clean alpha channel without any artifacting. Parallel to this, I generated high-fidelity AI backgrounds, carefully iterating on the outputs to match the exact focal length, perspective, and lighting ratios of our studio cameras.

The Final Composite The final compositing phase was all about the invisible details. By precisely matching color spaces, introducing realistic depth of field, and layering in subtle environmental light wraps, I fused the live-action footage with the AI-generated world. The final result is a seamless composite where the digital environment feels completely organic, grounded, and indistinguishable from a practical location.
